The plan that is developed following an evaluation often includes psychotherapy. Or perhaps your child's pediatrician or teacher has suggested that your child would benefit from psychotherapy. Children as well as adults generally benefit greatly from discussing their problems and worries with an objective person.
I have extensive experience treating many different kinds of children's problems including depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) among others. I am experienced working with children having learning disabilities in addition to anxiety and depression. The difficulties experienced by many gifted children with learning disabilities are of special interest to me.

With younger children, I use a variety of techniques including play therapy. Children express their thoughts and feelings through their play. In addition, I find that children often are more comfortable and talk more easily while playing and painting watercolors.
Depending on each child's circumstances, I may employ other therapeutic techniques including family therapy when needed and cognitive behavior therapy when appropriate. With permission from parents, I consult with the child's pediatrician and teachers as well as other professionals who work with the family, and attend school conferences when appropriate.
